my name is Dorka! I'm a Hungarian artist. 

My work consists heavily of oil paintings and highlighter drawings of animals.  In my paintings I always keep the background simple, usually two colours or two tones of the same colour, inviting focus to shift on the subject. Besides true-to-life colours, I often paint using a monochrome palette, bringing a new light to the animals we all know. 

My drawings follow the same principal, but are a little more stylised, thanks to the line art that finishes them up. They are usually silhouettes. 

From a very young age, I was an animal enthusiast, collecting facts and knowledge of many species. I grew up around animals and I feel most myself when I'm surrounded by them. I explore the world of animals through my work, inviting the viewers to bring their awareness to the vast list of species Earth has to offer. Horses are a reoccurring and popular subject reflecting the influence they have had on my upbringing and development as a person. I have spent most of my childhood riding. You could say I never grew out of loving and respecting them. 

Other than bringing awareness to the animals as a whole, I also show the uniqueness of their appearances. As an artist I find it crucial to recognise and portray the nuances of not just what's considered unique or rare but what's all around us every single day. Through this, I show beauty in animals we normally look over or are cast in a bad light.
