my name is Dorka! I'm a Hungarian equine artist. I make oil paintings of horses. I try to capture their uniqueness not necessarily through composition but through coat pattern and colour. Most of my paintings are monochrome, because I don't believe art should be limited to just portraying the subjects as we see them in real life.

Every piece teaches me something new about my artistic mindset and pushes me to become bolder in my expression. I make art as a tribute to these magnificent animals.

Growing up, horses have given me the core of the person I am today. I like to think people don't truly know me unless they know about my love and passion for horses.

Different and unique coats and markings have always been the main focus of my artistic attention. The more unique the horse, the more fascinated I am.

I have started drawing at a very young age. Even then, horses have always been the centre of those drawings. As I grew older, I kept practicing and have gotten to a level where I can confidently tackle any idea I have.

Fun fact: I used to hate painting. So much so that I would refuse to even own any sort of paint. I felt like I couldn't control the paints the way I wanted, so I blamed the material, not the lack of practice. One day however, after continuously seeing all the amazing work of other painters I thought to myself "There is a reason painting has stuck around for centuries. Why am I the exception? There is no way all these people can make those gorgeous paintings and I can't." and so I bought myself oil paints and I practically can't put them down ever since.

My paintings are for anyone who finds beauty in pattern. Anyone who finds familiarity in my love and humble devotion to not just horses but art itself.
